The Undertaker's 10 Greatest Feuds Of His WWE Career
3. Vs. Triple H
Shawn Michaels' loss to The Undertaker fueled two things in his friend, Triple H: A desire to avenge his fallen friend, and to succeed where he had failed. This led to him wordlessly confronting the Dead Man upon his return to action in early 2011, both looking at the WrestleMania sign hanging over them and knowing the score. Like Shawn and Undertaker, they'd met before- at WrestleMania, even- but this encounter carried with it a new weight with new stakes behind it. The two would meet in a brutal no holds barred match at WrestleMania XXVII, one which Undertaker would ultimately win, but at a price. After making The Game submit, the Dead Man had some worried he might be living up to his name as he was wheeled away to the back from ringside, unable to leave under his own power. The following January, Undertaker would return, but now with the shoe on the other foot; whereas he had at first refused Shawn Michaels' request for a rematch, it was now Hunter who did not want to face Undertaker again. Noting that Undertaker had to be wheeled out after their last encounter, Hunter took his role as Chief Operating Officer more seriously as he considered that ending the Dead Man's career would not be good for business. After a bit of goading on Undertaker's part, noting that Hunter was still in HBK's shadow, The Game relented on the condition that it be contested in Hell in a Cell. Shawn would later be added as a guest referee for what would be dubbed as the "End of an Era" match, though it would prove to be anything but for Triple H nor Undertaker. Nonetheless, for those in the moment, few will forget the sight before them as it was now Undertaker helping the defeated Hunter to the back with Shawn's help.
