The Undertaker's 10 Most Notorious Urban Legends

10. The Movie Suburban Commando Led To His WWE Career

Surbancommando

Story: Hulk Hogan starred in the film Suburban Commando. It was released in 1991, but filmed a year earlier. It's a bad film, but that's not much of a surprise. What's notable is that a younger Undertaker was part of it as Hogan had to fight off some bad guys along the way. According to Hogan, who is notorious for embellishing a story, he suggested to Vince McMahon that he hire Undertaker after he found out that Undertaker was actually a wrestler. Prior to WWE, Undertaker spent some time in various promotions like WCCW, USWA, WCW and other promotions. McMahon may not have known who he was when Hogan suggested him, but Undertaker was brought in after the movie was filmed and he debuted later at Survivor Series in 1990. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ7c2N_GHp4 Why People Believe It: Hogan filmed that movie, then Undertaker debuted later that year. A year after he debuted, Undertaker beat Hogan for the WWE Title. Should We Believe It: Yes it appears to be true. The timeline fits. There's a chance that WWE was going to hire Undertaker anyway because they might have known him from his time in WCW, but Hogan's suggestion likely helped him out too.
