1997 was the year blood returned to the WWF in a big way, thanks to Steve Austin at WrestleMania 13 and Shawn Michaels at In Your House: Badd Blood. In the first ever Hell in a Cell match, Michaels and The Undertaker already had the crowd at fever pitch before Kane's shocking debut and involvement in the finish stunned everyone.

Moving away from 'Taker for just a second, the great Shawn Michaels deserved an Oscar for his selling during this one. Being rag-dolled around the ring by his opponent, HBK expertly sold the fear anyone should feel when locked inside the foreboding new structure with a character called 'The Phenom'.

With no blueprint to work from, Michaels and Undertaker produced an epic that helped establish what Hell In A Cell would be all about. Mick Foley's bumps the next summer would redefine the match type, but that King Of The Ring effort wasn't as good a match as Michaels managed with Undertaker.
