A perfect example of how less really can be more, 'Taker's greatest title reign of them all was one of his shortest. That doesn't necessarily mean that it ended at the right time - because it really didn't - but given that 'The Deadman' suffered a torn bicep, there was little that could be done here.

Even with the abrupt ending, however, the reign itself was nothing short of magnificent. His first in five years, and the first time that he held it in the midst of his rejuvenated 'Deadman' persona, there was an unspoken reverence about this one that just felt right. It was, after all, the culmination of a three-year arc, as he finally captured the gold he had been chasing since his 2004 return - and after carrying the blue brand through tough times, this felt like a justified reward.

However, the best thing about the near-40 day reign was the sheer quality of the matches he produced throughout it. In the best shape of his entire career, the 43-year-old 'Phenom' had begun delivering some of his finest work yet as he won the World Title (his first time winning that belt) in an incredible showdown with Batista at WrestleMania 23 that had absolutely no business being as great as it was. The pair would then manage to recreate that magic in a barbaric Last Man Standing match and again in one of the best Steel Cage matches in non-PPV history.

The storytelling, the feud, the match quality and even the way he ultimately lost the title (through Edge's cash-in); everything about his all-too-brief 2007 reign as World Champion was fantastic. Short, yes, but very very sweet.
