The Undertaker's WWE Career: 9 Ups & 5 Downs
1. The Cornerstone Of The WWE
Many of us get caught up over the fact that The Undertaker was never what many like to call the 'face' of the company (though you could make an argument for him being one the multiple faces of both the Attitude and Ruthless Aggression eras) but the truth is that he was far more important to WWE than that.
Over the last three decades, the faces of the company have come and gone, with the likes of Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and John Cena dominating their respective eras. The Undertaker, however, was present for - and dominated - every one of them.
He may not have been in as many consecutive main event matches in any one era as those guys, but he was always circling the main event scene, engaging in high profile feuds throughout his entire career and sporadically dominating the main event when required to. And, more than that, he would be willing to lose whenever WWE needed to put over a huge star - because the-powers-that-be knew that a win over 'Taker meant far more than any championship could.
The Undertaker has been the cornerstone of WWE for 30 years, guarding the very foundation upon which the company is built by guiding it to safety in troubling times and doing what's best for business in the good ones. And that's far more important than being a short-term face.
His legacy really does speak for itself. Thank You, 'Taker.
