There are many deserving candidates when it comes to picking the greatest WWE superstar ever (and The Undertaker is certainly one of them), but when it comes to the greatest character in WWE - and, indeed, wrestling - history, 'The Demon Of Death Valley' is alone at the top of that list.

He was awe-inspiring right from the very first moment we laid eyes on him, with the hat, coat, ghoulish make-up, Paul Bearer and overall presentation going a long way in portraying him like this larger-than-life comic book character. And that only served as a foundation for some of the more theatrical aspects that would come in later years like the mind games, the blackouts and the lightning strikes.

Speaking of which, what solidified The Undertaker's status as WWE's greatest character was his ability to adapt. The zombie-like mortician would never have worked in the Attitude Era so he evolved into a Gothic Lord of Darkness that spoke in tongues and sought to sacrifice people. And he would do the same again throughout his second decade, humanising him with the American Badass persona before bringing it all back together for a hybrid version of 'The Deadman'.

Unquestionably the richest character in WWE history, The Undertaker has stood the test of time.
