8. The Late '90s

The more it became clear that 'Taker was destined to be a big time player, the more it became clear that he needed to drop certain aspects of his character. With that, he began evolving throughout the mid '90s, freeing himself of the shackles of the slow-moving mortician and showing audiences what he was really capable of in the ring - something that set the stage for an absolutely incredible run in the immediate future.

The late '90s were very good to 'The Phenom' as he transitioned into the Lord of Darkness persona and found his way into the main event scene a lot more often. A big time player of the Attitude Era, he not only proved that The Undertaker could exist in a less corny product, he enjoyed multiple WWE Title reigns, formed the Ministry of Darkness and had epic feuds with the likes of Bret Hart, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and, of course, Mankind. He also played a major part in introducing us to Hell In A Cell and was directly responsible for the iconic structure's success.
