Just a matter of days since Kenny Omega vacated the AAA Mega Championship, recent AEW signee Jay Lethal has been announced as challenging for that title at the upcoming TripleMania Regia event.

Originally, Omega was due to defend the AAA Mega Title against Hijo del Vikingo at this year's TripleMania on 4 December. This past Monday saw the Best Bout Machine formally vacate AAA's greatest prize, with Kenny currently taking some time away from the squared circle to deal with several injury issues.

While Kenny has promised to return to AAA and challenge the new Mega Champion once he's healed up, the promotion was quick to announce how Vikingo, Samuray Del Sol and three unnamed participants will do battle for this title. Now, it's been confirmed that Jay Lethal will take one of those three mystery spots.

TripleMania Regia will actually be the first ever AAA appearance for Lethal, with him having recently departed Ring of Honor after the company sadly revealed it will be releasing all contracted talent ahead of going on hiatus following 11 December's Final Battle PPV.

A two-time ROH World Champion, Lethal arrived in AEW earlier this month at the Full Gear PPV. Later that night, AEW confirmed that the hugely talented star was now officially #AllElite. Last week's Dynamite saw the former Black Machismo make his in-ring AEW bow, coming up short against TNT Champion Sammy Guervara.
