This Surprising Celebrity Was Almost WWE NXT's 'Ghostface'

Johnny Gargano reveals that WWE nearly brought a celeb in at NXT Halloween Havoc 2020.

It's David Arquette!

Johnny Gargano revealed during his latest Twitch stream that Arquette almost made an unlikely WWE cameo back at NXT's Halloween Havoc 2020 show. The card included a 'Devil's Playground' battle for the North American Title between 'Johnny Wrestling' and Damian Priest.

At one point, Arquette was discussed to play the mysterious 'Ghostface' character. That, of course, would've been a nod towards Dave's work in the Scream movie franchise - it would've been a neat moment for wrestling super-fan Gargano as well.

He thought it'd be cool to bring the former WCW World Champion in as a sneaky little Easter egg that'd pop hardcore fans watching when he was unmasked.

WWE's creative team eventually decided against contacting Arquette and bringing him in for a one off appearance on the show. Gargano told Twitch viewers that he'd only mentioned David "as an offhanded joke" anyway. He didn't expect that it'd be taken seriously by the writers, but they did consider it.

Maybe Arquette could've rocked up sporting a replica WCW belt too. Why not? In fact, give 'Ghostface' a 24/7 Title run whilst you're at it.
