This Week in WWE: Daniel Bryan Has Greatest In-Ring Week of His Career
Fail of the week: The No Way Out PPV plays out like a three hour Raw show Despite boasting two excellent matches, last week's PPV provided a reminder of how little creative direction the wwe have at present. Indeed, like a number of B PPV's these days, No Way Out seemed more designed as a build up to the next Raw as opposed to a special event that is supposed to either settle feuds or present exciting new stings in the tale. Starting with Dolph Ziggler fighting Sheamus as a world heavyweight championship bout which simply led to a non championship rematch on free television, CM Punk defending his gold against Punk and Bryan which provided the deeply unsatisfying pay-off of AJ being knocked unconscious near the climax, Triple H cutting a Raw style promo in order to hype up his match at Summerslam with Brock Lesnar and John Laurinaitis being fired which served to promote his final appearance on Raw and present the hunt for a new General Manage; the whole thing just felt like a preview for bigger future events. It was the fatal four way tag team match however in which Abraham Washington turned on Epico and Primo and switched his allegiance to the Prime Time Players that exemplified everything wrong with the current booking philosophy of the company. Whilst I like the team of Titus and Young and think that it is good to play up the morally bankrupt mindset of Abraham Washington, this angle would have been far more intriguing had Washington actually shared something more than the forgettable two minute segments on air with the two Puerto Ricans who were barely a unit with Washington to begin with. Why is anyone supposed to care about a manager screwing a team who had only been together for the briefest amount of time? With good wrestling lost in a fog of rushed storylines, stale matches and silly overbooked endings this show appeared to act as a precursor to what we can expect when the three hour Raw shows become a permanent deal.
