Lockdown 2008 was a time that TNA took a bold move, and it paid off brilliantly. At that point, Joe and Angle had been feuding off-and-on for two years, but the two were set for one more showdown, with both men absolutely confident that they would walk out on top.

While we’d seen Angle and Joe battle in a variety of matches, Lockdown was their most unique and arguably their best. What they put on was a heavily MMA-inspired showdown filled with stiff moves and great submission work. Out of the entire industry, Joe and Angle were perhaps the two best to put on this kind of match. It was like nothing ever seen before in WWE or TNA at this level.

The company also went with the right finish of Joe winning, with Angle putting him over like a million bucks. This was Joe’s first TNA Heavyweight Title win, and finally (though briefly) established him as the top guy in the company.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
