TNA: 5 Reasons Why Jeff Hardy Is Everything That Is Wrong With Professional Wrestling Today

2. The Jeff Jarrett Angle

Final Resolution Now although I have never really been a fan of ol' "Slapnuts" and technically this could be included as part of my final example I believe this subject requires further analysis and discussion that I can't fit within a single footnote. For those who maybe are not familiar with the history of TNA, let me enlighten you. In 2002 after the demise of WCW Jeff Jarrett founded TNA under the NWA banner. His goal was to make an alternative to the WWE which had recently brought out all of its competition, one with innovative concepts like the X Division that could possibly take on the "big boys" one day. Now thanks to WCW and ECW's demise there was a plethora of talent to choose from. One of which was the now unemployed Jeff Hardy (for reasons I will explain later). So on the second anniversary of TNA he debuted against AJ Styles, getting a title shot in his first match no less for the X Division championship. He got thrust straight into the main event with multiple World title opportunities and was usually promoted as a top guy alongside Jarrett. But then, in February 2005 he no showed a major ppv where he was booked to face Raven in a heavily hyped "Clockwork Orange House of Fun" match. Although he was punished with a suspension he came back in August at "Sacrifice" and quickly got thrown back into main event status. The he no showed AGAIN, this time for "Turning Point" 2005 and after fulfilling his house show obligations he was fired and eventually returned to the WWE in 2006. Now you may be asking what does this have to do with anything? Well, after giving up his new WWE career (I will get to that) he went back to TNA with huge fanfare and was thrust straight back into the main event. Where ONCE AGAIN he let the company down in the now infamous 2011 Victory Road debacle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2V6ulxTRSDc Now this is where I get seriously angered at Jeff Hardys constant chances at redemption. As that was his angle coming back YET AGAIN TO TAKE ON Jeff Jarrett and "Immortal", his redemption in the eyes of the fans. And he still comes back to thunderous ovations. What the hell? At this point he has not only cost TNA precious viewers and valuable money but has essentially stripped the company of all of its credibility and tradition it tried to create in the decade previous. And Jeff Jarrett is the bad guy upon his return? I'm sorry but that makes absolutely no sense. Jeff Hardy did more damage to TNA, the company Jeff Jarrett founded no less, than anyone up to that point in the company's entire history until Brooke Hogan showed her ugly face in the Knockouts dressing room. How exactly is Jarratt the bad guy in this scenario? What, are you all freaking blind? Am I the only one that notices the hypocrisy of this? You see, as I have mentioned before in an article you can read here, there is a MAJOR difference between a "Smark" and a "Smart Wrestling Fan" and I believe Jeff Hardy is the epitome of this as the Smarks just can't accept the fact that he is simply the worst thing that has ever happened to TNA. Jeff Jarrett had every right to beat the living hell out of this guy in the middle of the ring for real. But lo and behold, he acted LIKE A PROFESSIONAL and actually jobbed to the man that almost sent him out of business. I mean, I know he wasn't in charge by then but damn, he has a lot more patience than I have, as I wouldn't have even let him back through the doors. And if I did get him in the ring, I would remember all of the money that was lost and take it out on his arse. Which leads me into the all-important reason behind my belief that he is currently one of the main problems of pro wrestling today

Passions in life: Movies, Music and Wrestling....My childhood was spent growing up in the "Outback" of Australia (I'm a little bit country) and my adulthood resided within the city limits (I'm a little bit rock and roll), so you could say that I am the best (or worst) of both worlds. A 6 foot 7 ex wannabe pro wrestler (whose career was cut short due to a busted back, NOT caused by wrestling) & muso who has a precocious cat & a habit of doing the wrong thing but for the right reasons. The story of my life???? All demos, no albums ;)
