TNA Impact: Looking At The "Corpus Christi Hemme: Web Designer" Edition

TNA_Impact_Wrestling_0008 After last week's Full Metal Mayhem, I was interested to see the second dose of Impact from Corpus Christi. There was a lot more action and a lot less Hogan. Although, the hand we were dealt with the Aces and Eights might not have been the strongest no matter how many beat downs they do. But I'll explain soon enough. Impact Wrestling began with a video package detailing the events of last week and that Jeff Hardy would not be appearing on this weeks episode. Then we go backstage and see the Sergeant in arms for Aces and Eights Devon talking to be younger, Garrett Bischoff and Wes Brisco that they need to take their match with Kurt Angle very seriously because he's dangerous. Wes and Garrett make their way to the ring but before we see Angle they give us a video package detailing the whole history in case your new and then we see Kurt come out. I understand why they did this for new fans but just felt weird to do it that way and do not have the announcers just go over it on commentary. And speaking of announcers, I'm not sure what was up with Taz, but it felt like he was twelve-year-old that was scolded for playing ball in the house. He was whining for most of the night over being bullied by The Professor and Todd in the booth, which got frustrating after a while. I mean, weren't they victorious last week in dispatching Jeff Hardy? Wouldn't he be more boastful than anything? Taz tries to say during the opening match that Wes and Garrett are being taken advantage of by Kurt and get some sympathy for his group. I thought the match was a little bit of a cluster and really should've been use to help legitimize Wes and Garrett as actual players in the group and not just the young guys. But instead the cyborg beats them from pillar to post, giving them a double German . That was probably the highlight of everything as the match ended with a run in as the Olympic gold medalist was taken out by the vice president and the chain. I understand keeping your babyfaces strong, but that's still kind of ridiculous considering all of Kurt's health issues. He should not be that hard to beat. This makes this invading force look weak due to the fact they'll only look dominant have numbers on their side. This will not be the last time we see that tonight.. Garrett and Wes hit a double powerbomb on Kurt after the match, which led to a promo from the new spokesman for the Aces and Eights in Anderson (his role in the group is apparently "Asshole" as the patch on his jacket says) who confirmed the chaos will continue and wishes the best of luck to AJ Styles later in the night. We then move to the X Division as Zema Ion battles Petey Williams and champion Kenny King (with new entrance music€ Finally getting rid of that weird Hawaiian music) in a very good match that saw the introduction of the new referee camp which luckily was not as distracting as in the 1991 WCW attempt. I will say I don't think it really brought anything different to the match. in the end though, everybody came out looking strong, especially Petey, who hit the Canadian Destroyer with King picking up the scraps. It will be interesting to see who gets added to the mix as Ion is on the outside of the championship picture with that loss. They announce that Magnus will get a TV title shot against Devon€ Brooke Hogan is backstage with Christy Hemme who apparently designed the new Knockouts website. (Man their cutting cost everywhere aren't they?) Brooke then calls in Mickie James and Ms. Tessmacher and tells them they've been working really hard and they deserve it opportunity for the Knockouts title. (For doing what? The fact that they're the only ones left on the roster without a feud?) Tessmacher offers her sympathies over Brooke Hogan's recent issues. I thought this would mean a heel turn for Tessmacher to Aces and Eights. However, the more more I think about it Mickie James was awful aggressive in that match . In the end, getting the victory to move on to face the injured Velvet Sky next week in Indiana, Pennsylvania. I got to say I hope ODB stays around as the Knockouts referee for a while. Oh and before I forget, I should mention my favorite line from Tessmacher during the match to ODB€" No favorites" Aces and Eights attack a lot of people during this episode as promised. They stop to TV title matches the one with Magnus in which it takes Devon with the chain knock the British Gladiator down in order for DOC and knocks to do a high time chokeslam on the ramp, Samoa Joe comes out a little too late and leads to a challenge from him and an angry promo in which he gets a title shot but he gets attacked as well. . Joseph Park also gets beat down in the bathroom as Bully and Devon in the message about the annulment papers once again. We have a tag team segment that shows great interactions between Aries and Bobby Roode and bad influence until Chavo and Hernandes show up and ruin the party. Matt Morgan brings up the point that Hogan is not here and how Sting let him down backstage. (Can I get that job?€ It seems really easy. I only have to come to work half the time. I get to be in charge.) And in the final match we see a tease for AJ to be with bad influence Kaz and Daniels only to attack them after his victory over James Storm. This leads to an Aces and Eights attack on all involved except for AJ who walks away. Bully teases that there are no more heroes and that they run this place as they go off the air
