TNA Reaches Temporary Agreement With Spike TV

Dixie Carter releases official statement regarding the ongoing situation.

Impact Wrestling Spike Tv TNA Wrestling has been the talk of the sports entertainment world ever since news broke that their deal with Spike TV will be expiring in sometime in September, with Spike reportedly not looking to renew the contract. Since then, many fans and insiders have speculated on what this means for TNA and its future. Some have even gone as far as to say that this could finally bring about the end of TNA Wrestling. Word has now come in that TNA Wrestling will continue to air on Spike TV through the rest of the year. Obviously, some sort of temporary agreement has been reached between the two parties, allowing TNA€™s flagship show Impact to remain on the air until TNA can hopefully find it a new home. Furthermore, it was recently announced that Impact would be moving to Wednesday nights, which began last night, August 21st. Time will tell if this move will help TNA in the ratings, as they faced stiff competition on Thursdays with the return of NFL football. TNA President Dixie Carter released an official statement in regard to the move and deal with Spike TV. In it she states that Impact €œwill remain a vital part of Spike TV€™s programming € through the end of the year.€ She further states that €œnegotiations remain ongoing beyond this time frame.€ It€™s always a possibility that a new deal can be stuck between TNA and Spike. Earlier indications seemed to indicate that Spike was uninterested in continuing their relationship with the wrestling promotion, however, this temporary deal is obviously a good indication that things may not be as dire as they were once considered. TNA Wrestling is likely talking with other networks and cable operations at this time. It was reported that not only were Spike TV representatives present during the most recent Impact tapings in NYC, but that other networks were there as well. Only time will tell what happens with TNA Wrestling and their Impact program, but this temporary deal with Spike is a good indication that the promotion is doing all they can to keep their program alive. Will TNA be able to negotiate a new deal with Spike TV by year€™s end? If not, will Impact find a new home elsewhere? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
