TNA World Champion Mike Santana Becoming Free Agent This Summer? (TNA News)
Rumours intensify that WWE will make their move for ex-AEW and current TNA man Mike Santana.
PWInsider Elite reports that reigning TNA World Champion Mike Santana's current deal with the promotion will expire this July. That'd make the ex-AEW man a free agent again, and The Wrestling Observer believes there's a solid chance that WWE will make their move to snag him.
The Observer noted that WWE has shown interest in Santana before, so it isn't exactly a stretch to imagine that they'd want to sit down and have a chat if he is leaving TNA. Obviously, this represents quite the headache for Total Nonstop staff, because they'd need to book a replacement in the title hot seat within the next month or so.
There's a lot to think about here, and not a lot of time to think about it.
Santana has already made several appearances on WWE's NXT brand due to the company's working relationship with TNA. In total, he's worked 6 matches on the developmental brand across 2025-2026 - the highest profile of those (by a mile) was a TNA World Title challenge to Trick Williams on the 3 June 2025 episode of NXT.
The others, aside from a singles victory over Tavion Heights in May 2025, were all tag efforts in some form or fashion. In other words, Santana is still screaming to make his mark on WWE, but that could happen starting this summer.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, of course, but it is looking likely that he'll trade the top of TNA for the bottom of WWE. Working his way up shouldn't be a problem to someone like Santana.
