Despite reports that CM Punk was responsible for Colt Cabana's prolonged absence from AEW television, Tony Khan has reiterated that the Straight-Edge Superstar "never asked for" his former friend to be pulled from TV.

Khan was asked about this matter during the post-Full Gear media scrum last night, with the AEW President shooting down prior stories that Punk was behind Boom Boom's lack of TV time.

Asked by Wrestling Inc.'s Nick Hausman to settle the rumours once for all on this matter, Tony Khan stated, "no, he [Punk] never asked for that".

Tony followed up that comment by immediately discussing Cabana's recent match against ROH World Champion Chris Jericho on the 2 November episode of Dynamite; a match that was Cabana's first Dynamite contest since losing to Bryan Danielson back in November 2021.

Of course, some saw the TV reappearance of Colt Cabana as being a way for AEW to take a shot at CM Punk, with new reports claiming said appearance "only made things worse" where it pertains to the ongoing issues between Punk and AEW.

As Khan explained, Colt was a "very logical challenger" for Jericho, pointing out how Cabana's working as both a coach and a wrestler in the new ROH, is a former ROH World Tag Team Champion, and is undefeated in the relaunched ROH.

Where CM Punk and AEW are concerned, the belief is that the Second City Saint is on his way out of the company, but that the specifics - specifically a non-compete clause - are still to be agreed upon between the two sides.
