Tony Khan Considering WrestleMania-Style Super Events In AEW
AEW founder open to the prospect of huge WrestleMania-style shows.
Tony Khan has stated he is open to the idea of running huge, weekend-spanning events in the style of WrestleMania in AEW.
Khan stated as much in a new interview with Sports Illustrated, which dropped just before he announced a huge event at London, England's Wembley Stadium on 28 August during last night's episode of Dynamite.
When asked about the prospect of AEW establishing its own signature multi-day event, a la WWE, Khan said the following:-
“We could do one event spanning a weekend and we could also do multiple events across a week. It’s something we’re considering, especially as we keep entering so many new debut markets. We’re looking forward to expanding and holding more huge events.”
28 August's All In event will be the grandest in company history, taking place in a cavernous 90,000-seater building. It'll also be AEW's first ever show in the United Kingdom, with the promotion showing huge ambition in putting it together.
2021's Grand Slam special at Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City currently stands as AEW's highest-attended event ever, with 20,177 fans at the show. Barring a major catastrophe, All In will shatter that record, though there is no confirmation of it being a WrestleMania-style multi-day affair.
