Top 10 Women In WWE History

9. Mae Young

It's almost unfair that most fans have no clue that Mae Young had a wrestling career prior to becoming the elderly sex addict of WWE in the 2000s. It's unfair because Young had a storybook career that would make for a terrific movie one day. Johnnie Mae Young was born in 1923 and was a natural athlete. The youngest of eight children, Young was an accomplished softball player and was as tough as any man. While still in high school, she challenged the legendary women's champion Mildred Burke to a fight but was rebuffed. Instead, she had a shoot fight with Gladys Gillem and beat her in seconds. In the early 1940s, Young went on tour alongside Mildred Burke and toured North America, opening women's wrestling to the continent during World War II when most male wrestlers were in battle. In addition to training the legendary Fabulous Moolah, Young also matched Lou Thesz's record by wrestling in seven decades, a feat that will never be beaten. It was in the late 1990s that Mae Young remarkably came back into the public eye when she began appearing alongside the Fabulous Moolah on WWF television. They were originally involved in a storyline where Jeff Jarrett was beating up women leading up to him jobbing to Chyna. However, the duo were so entertaining that they made appearances for the better part of a decade. The most memorable moment came in 2000 when the Dudley Boyz powerbombed the 77 year old woman off of the entrance ramp and through a table. It was a bump that most normal, 25 year old women would refuse to take but Mae was no normal women. Her life and her accomplishments in the wrestling business have certainly proven that time and time again.
