On August 9th 1999 the clock finally ran down and Y2J walked out to the screaming audience. Unfortunately for Jericho, The Rock was in the middle of cutting a promo on the Big Show. The Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla called the show Raw is Jericho and announced that he was there to save the WWF. That led to the Peoples Champion mocking Jericho for several minutes. Despite being ridiculed by The Rock, Jericho had been a good impression and the crowd proved to be supportive. The vignettes were some of the most creative and original promos used by the WWF; thought up by Jericho himself.
