The Rock's 14 Greatest Moments Since His 2011 Return

2. Beating John Cena At Wrestlemania 28

After over a year of build-up, John Cena and The Rock finally met one-on-one at Wrestlemania 28 in Miami Florida. The crowd were certainly up for it, firmly in Rock's corner in his hometown, and once again he showed he still had what it took to hang at the top level despite being out of the ring for so long. They two mega-stars went back and forth with the Great One keeping the pace throughout, despite reportedly tearing his hamstring after an over-zealous top-rope manoeuvre by Cena at the halfway point. The finish came after Cena tried to mock the Great One with his own People's Elbow, before Rock sprang up and surprised him with a Rock Bottom to score the pin to send the crowd into raptures. The image of Rock posing on the turnbuckles and Cena staring up at him from the floor is an image that defined the course of the next year for Cena in particular, while Rock would move on to the WWE title picture thereafter. The end of chapter two in the rivalry didn't fail to disappoint, and in turn, Rock would earn respect from his peers in the lockeroom for his performance as the jealousy over his return and taking a top spot from them gradually wavered.
