Triple H: 5 Awesome Matches And 5 That Sucked

4. Triple H Vs Chris Jericho - Undisputed Championship, Wrestlemania X8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8uZ0ad0XXEM How could two experienced and entertaining performers like Jericho and Triple H go wrong in a Wrestelmania main event? On paper it sounds great, but in reality it sucked. Hunter had been inactive for most of 2001 after tearing his quad. He returned in January 2002 not fully fit, but even more of a hindrance was the considerable muscle he had put on. The Game was stacked. He must have been lifting a lot of weights to get muscles like that... As Steve Austin would say a year later in an interview with Raw Magazine, Triple was in awful shape. Austin told the truth when he said "He needs to knock some of the pounds of muscle off and go back to doing what he did best." The assertion was spot on. Hunter was going into the Jericho match with far less mobility due to the huge weight of muscles he developed. The match sucked. There was little chemistry and Jericho didn't help matters, seemingly tensed up in the role of main event champion. What also didn't help was the fact that Hunter and Y2J had to follow the match between The Rock and Hulk Hogan. The title match seemed trivial following the generational battle between two legitimate icons of the industry. The Toronto crowd had been very loud for the Hogan match, exhausting themselves, resulting in a dead crowd for the Hunter Jericho encounter. The Game and Y2J trudged through the motions before Hunter got the win to little fanfare. His crowning moment on the grandest stage of them all was one to forget.
