Triple H: Face Or Heel?
1. Final Score
Face: 4
Heel: 5
Winner: Heel.
Even your writer is surprised at how close this one was. He recalls Triple H much more fondly as a villain, but did learn loads from revisiting his babyface stints. Namely, the man has always been thoughtful enough as a worker to scrape by despite some horrendous storytelling and forced moments.
Trips' being better at promos as a baby than he was a heel says loads too, and it's ever-so-slightly weird that his better heel moments came in-ring rather than on the mic when characterisation (JR's classic "Cerebral Assassin" line, to give one example) has been a massive part of his appeal.
It's obvious from watching his work over the past 25 years that Hunter prefers being the bad guy. Maybe that came across and tipped the scales towards the heel side in the end.
