Triple H Fires Subtle Shot At AEW Star
'The Game' showed up on the Pat McAfee Show on WrestleMania Friday.
Triple H has seemingly fired a few shots at AEW.
Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday as WrestleMania weekend got underway, WWE's Chief Content Officer and head of creative was invited to talk about the differences he saw between the Attitude Era and this current period for the company.
It was here when 'The Game' took what appeared to be his first subtle shot at Tony Khan's promotion.
Noting how they were fighting for their lives and taking on another company (WCW) who were "kicking our ass" in the Attitude Era, Paul Levesque would then add that while they were "building up against something" back then, they're now currently "up against ourselves."

Host McAfee clearly took those comments as a subtle dig at WWE's AEW competition, chuckling at 'The Cerebral Assassin's words before suggesting that statement could be a controversial one. Trips would reply by stating that he was "not saying anything to be controversial. I'm spitting facts, right?"
Not finished there, the multiple-time World Champion would also comment on recruiting new talent for WWE, with that subject leading to another shot at AEW - or more specifically, recent AEW signing Will Ospreay.
After explaining how folks like William Regal help him keep an eye on new potential WWE Superstars, Levesque stressed that "because they succeed some place else, doesn't mean they'll succeed at the big time."
Calling WWE "a different game, a different world," Trips would then say the following (H/T F4WOnline):
"When I see people that come out of trying to make it and then they pick the job where they go, "Well, they work less, the schedule is lighter...alright, then I'm glad I didn't get you because if you're not in it for the grind at that point early in your your career, you have no business being here."
It's not hard to see why some have taken this as a dig at 'The Aerial Assassin' in the wake of the Brit choosing AEW over WWE recently and noting in interviews how the latter didn't have "as kind of a schedule." (via TalkIsJericho/Fightful)
