At WWE SummerSlam 2025, Brock Lesnar - named 44 times in the ongoing sex trafficking lawsuit filed by Janel Grant against Vince McMahon, WWE, and formerly John Laurinaitis - made his return to the promotion. In the cliffhanger of the Premium Live Event, Lesnar arrived on the scene after night two's main event and attacked former WWE Undisputed Champion John Cena, setting up another match in their decades-long series.

If you wondered why Paul Levesque has scrapped the post-PLE press conference, you might just have your answer.

He did however talk about Brock Lesnar in the setting of a post-show roundtable chat, with no members of the press present. Questions were instead asked by WWE employees and contractors. There, Levesque said that it was "incredible" to have Lesnar back onto the WWE roster. He also said that, were there a roof on top of the building, Lesnar's pop would have blown it off. Fans in the background chanted "We want Kross"; Levesque, mistaking this for cries of "We want Brock", said "You got him".

Levesque also touched on the "why" of it all, which is what many people are wondering. Triple H seemed to deflect here, citing John Cena's wish-list of final opponents. "It's him writing the last chapter of his book...one of the very first things I said to him [when mapping out his last run] was "Who do you want, and how?"".

This was interpreted by some as cowardly - as if it was framed as a benevolent favour to John Cena, and not a major, ugly indictment of WWE's decision-making.

Lesnar is back, he's working John Cena, and WWE doesn't want anybody to ask any questions.
