8. Triple H vs. Chris Jericho (Last Man Standing) - Fully Loaded 2000
The highest profile match that Triple H had with Chris Jericho was the WrestleMania X-8 main event for the Undisputed Championship, but undoubtedly their best match occurred two years earlier at the pay per view Fully Loaded. Throughout 2000, Triple H solidified himself as the best wrestler in the WWE. After winning the WWE Title for the first time in 1999, he carried the company into the new millennium while Steve Austin was out with a neck injury. Besides possibly the Rock, there was no bigger star in wrestling during 2000 than Triple H. His appeal was nearly universal at this time: casual fans and internet fans alike praised Hunter as the best in ring performer in the WWE. One can not overstate how popular Chris Jericho was in 2000. It seemed like it was just a matter of time until he would get a run with the company's top championship, and it seemed like that was going to happen one night in April 2000. On an edition of RAW IS WAR, Jericho actually defeated Triple H for the championship. The crowd erupted into applause in seeing a rare world championship change on RAW, however the decision was later reversed when the job and safety of referee Earl Hebner was threatened by Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. This moment ended up leading into the feud between Jericho and Helmsley that would culminate with this memorable match in July 2000. Many have argued that 2000 was one of the best in ring years in the history of the WWE, so for this match to stick out from the rest of the pack as one of the year's best means it was definitely a special performance.
