5. Jose Aldo Is Back. Is Conor McGregor Ready For Him?

The fact that the rematch between former featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar was for an interim championship is insulting to both men. The only reason an interim title had to be declared was because the current champion, Conor McGregor, is currently on a quest to satiate his ego and avenge the only UFC loss he's ever suffered by fighting a second time at 170 pounds since winning the 145-pound title (spoiler alert: he's going to lose again).

The main question surrounding this fight was in regards to how Aldo would respond after suffering a shocking 13-second knockout loss to McGregor. Would he be motivated and hungry or would the effect of the loss linger and make him tentative?

Jose silenced the critics by decisively bringing an end to what seems like Edgar's 17th title shot since coming to the UFC, picking up a unanimous decision in a fight that was never close at any point. Frankie is a talented competitor, but he bounces around a lot and does busy work while Aldo is much more conservative with the use of his strikes, and with far more effect.

The story of the fight was how easily Aldo was able to avoid Edgar's takedown attempts, effortlessly shrugging them off as if he was dismissing an annoying child rather than defending against a world class athlete. If Conor McGregor was paying attention to what was going on in the cage rather than schmoozing it up with Justin Timberlake at ringside, he should be aware that Jose Aldo is out for his blood, and if and when that rematch happens we may be looking at a drastically different end result.
