http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfqV3xI8l_s As the reigning Intercontinental champion, the Ultimate Warrior was clearly positioned as the number two babyface in the company behind Hulk Hogan. However, as the 1980s turned into the 1990s, the gap between Warrior and Hogan seemed to close to almost a dead heat. Warrior's popularity was escalating quickly and Hogan was seen as the Old Guard. For the first time ever, the WWF booked a babyface against a babyface in the main event of WrestleMania as Hulk Hogan took on the Ultimate Warrior. Not only was it a fan favorite match but both the WWF title and the Intercontinental title were on the line in the match, making it one of the biggest matches in the company's history At the Toronto Sky Dome, Warrior and Hulk Hogan engaged in a fantastic match where neither man could get a clear advantage over the other. With the crowd split firmly down the middle, Hulk Hogan kicked out of the Warrior's big splash to the delight of half of the crowd and made his trademark comeback. This time, however, Warrior moved out of the way of Hogan's legdrop and hit a second big splash. This time, Hogan was unable to kick out before the three count and Warrior was the new heavyweight champion. In a symbolic passing of the torch, Hulk Hogan handed over the WWF title to the Warrior and exited the ring. The WWF welcomed their new hero for the new decade and, for one night, it seemed as though Warrior was headed for years of dominance.
