Without doubt the most infamous Ultimate Warrior controversy is his circa SummerSlam 1991 dispute with Vince McMahon. The Warrior was unhappy with not being paid on an equal basis with top WWF star Hulk Hogan. He demanded McMahon start booking him as such, with at least equal pay, or he simply wouldn't turn up to shows. Warrior was essentially holding the WWF up for money. Vince, with little choice if he wanted to feature Warrior as advertised at WWF events, assured Warrior that he would start giving him his requested pay billing. However, as soon as SummerSlam 1991 was out of the way, Vince suspended Warrior. The relationship never really recovered, Warrior would come and go over the next few years, but his lack of professionalism had killed him in the industry. Everyone from McMahon to the locker room now looked upon Warrior as an egotistical, selfish and non-team player style of wrestler. It marred Warrior's perception in the industry, it was without doubt his biggest wrestling related controversy. However, as this list has proved, Warrior's controversies extended far beyond the squared circle. He was a complicated man who couldn't resist stirring the cauldron of controversy. Warrior undoubtedly deserves his place in WWE history is the point I would like to end on - but that legacy also involves the reality of his own words and actions.
