The Undertaker: 10 Landmark Firsts In His WWE Career
7. His First WWE Title Came One Year After Debut - Survivor Series 1991
Survivor Series has always been a special PPV in his career for a number of reasons. When Undertaker faced off at Survivor Series 1991 with Hulk Hogan's WWE Title on the line, it was the biggest match of his career up to that point. Hogan was the babyface champ of course while Undertaker was a young heel on the rise. The event was held on a Wednesday that year on Thanksgiving Eve in the US. The match ended when Ric Flair showed up with a steel chair while the ref was distracted with Paul Bearer. Undertaker hit Hogan with a Tombstone on the chair (sort of) and he won the WWE Title that night. His reign lasted a total of six days due to the controversy at the show named "This Tuesday In Texas" that is a whole other story. It was still a recognized title win by Undertaker. That initial title run by Undertaker was so short, but I was fortunate enough to see him as the WWE Champion at a house show in my hometown of London, Ontario as he defended the gold against the British Bulldog at a house show. I was about ten years old. Will never forget it. He scared the hell out of me!
