The Undertaker's 10 Best Moments From The Attitude Era

6. Stephanie McMahon & The "Black Wedding" - Raw - April 26th, 1999

While we're on the subject of The Undertaker's character taking a bit of a "dark" twist, we have to talk about the storyline that saw the introduction of Stephanie McMahon as a television character. Still a young and innocent sweetheart at the time, she was kidnapped and forced to marry Taker in a ritualistic ceremony as she was tied to the same symbol mentioned in the previous entry. Stephanie was at the stage in her time with the company that the men weren't looking at her as a "sex symbol", but someone that they wanted to date. She was pre-implants, was still young (22), and hadn't developed all of the character traits that have made her one of the best non-wrestler heels of the last quarter-century. When Taker kidnapped her, it made him even more over as a heel. Fans wanted someone to save Stephanie. The fact that "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, who was still involved in his legendary feud with Vince McMahon, was the one who made the save blew everyone away. Of course, the Austin vs. McMahon feud would be taken to the next level once it was revealed that Vince himself was the "Higher Power" behind the entire abduction of his daughter, but Taker once again proved that he could be the focal point of an era that was littered with big-time performers full of charisma and character.
