Update On Drew McIntyre's WWE Future After Royal Rumble 2022
Here's what's going on with Drew McIntyre following his return from injury at WWE Royal Rumble 2022.
Drew McIntyre returned to WWE seemingly ahead of schedule at Royal Rumble 2022, making a surprise entrance into the titular men's match and eventually finishing second to winner Brock Lesnar.
It was the first time the Scot had appeared onscreen since Day 1 (1 January), when he was ambushed backstage by Madcap Moss and Happy Corbin as a kayfabe cover for a legitimate neck injury, with tests following. Later, it was reported that Drew hoped to be back in the ring for WrestleMania 38 in April.
Dave Meltzer writes in the latest Wrestling Observer/Figure Four Online Daily Update that McIntyre isn't yet at 100%. His neck is still healing, so while he'll be back on television following the Rumble, he won't be wrestling on the road until his condition has improved.
It is also stated that Drew's comeback at the Rumble was kept a surprise.
McIntyre entered the over-the-top-rope battle royal at number 21, eliminating Moss and Corbin after going after the duo upon hitting the ring. This suggests that WWE may keep that particular feud running on SmackDown, though Drew already has a pinfall victory over Moss to his name in 2022, having felled Madcap at Day 1.
