A new report from Fightful Select has shed light on several notable AEW absentees, including former champions Miro, Hikaru Shida, and Scorpio Sky.

The outlet reported in December that Miro, who has been off AEW programming since September, was sidelined not because he was injured, but due to creative not being presented to him and agreed upon. Nothing has changed since then, per this latest update. Miro is "healthy and ready to go", though there's no word on renewed creative discussions between the former TNT Champion and Tony Khan. The Bulgarian is, however, bound to AEW for several more years, having signed a four-year contract extension roughly a year ago.

Speaking of former TNT Champions, Scorpio Sky is in a similar situation. Injured last summer, Sky was cleared to return a long time ago, though he hasn't been brought back to television yet. The former SoCal Uncensored member, who signed a five-year extension in late 2021, hasn't been backstage at many AEW Dynamite tapings recently.

In the women's division, Kris Statlander is still a few months away from returning. Though she has been backstage at some recent shows, Statlander, who tore her ACL in August, still has some recovering to do.

Leyla Hirsch is another long-term injury absentee. Having undergone knee surgery in May, Hirsch is believed to be "slowly getting there", having recently returned to in-ring training.

Hikaru Shida is dealing with a finger injury. Currently back in her native Japan, she has worked only three matches this year, her most recent coming on the Jericho Cruise 2023 (2-4 February).
