Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT (Oct 14)

Despite opening with a very confusing promo that pitched the UE as heels while Kyle O'Reilly ran through all the deeds he and Adam Cole have done in the name of turning face, we kicked off this week with a number 1 contenders match for the NXT Tag Team Championship.

Immediately prior to the world curling a wet one out on the rug back in March, NXT felt like it was finally putting this division back in the spotlight. The fallout of the Dusty Classic had given several teams the platform to build on - Grizzled Young Veterans, Imperium, Undisputed Era, Broserweights, Indus-Sher, remember them!? - but that feels like a long old time ago now.

The best we get now is the occasional Tag TV Banger, and on the basis of reduced expectations, this was great. Lorcan and Burch as battering brawlers were the perfect foil for the still-apparently-weasley 'Era Boys'. In contrast to O'Reilly and Cole, Strong and Fish still feel like the group of old, and their ability to find a way to win here made for some captivating viewing.

We deserve a proper tag division, but until then we'll settle for the odd match of this standard.

WHY YOU SHOWING ME THE FINN SURGERY PICTURES?!

THIS BELT IS CURSED. The news is there is no news!
