3 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Unreal Season 2 (Review)

As one half of The New Age Outlaws, Brian 'Road Dogg' James was a star of the Attitude Era. His iconic mic work deployed during his tag team's entrance remains a work of brilliance, but WWE Unreal makes for some incredibly uncomfortable viewing as he attempts to do his job as Head of Creative for SmackDown.

Listening to him disclose his lack of ideas for the Women's United States Championship is painful, as he flounders on creative planning for a potential second run with the belt for Chelsea Green. As that particular title has suffered from bad creative and a lack of direction on SmackDown for much of its existence, it can't help but reflect badly on Road Dogg's seemingly nonexistent forward planning.

Crashing out in the writer's room as he attempts to justify a valid reason for R-Truth cutting his hair in Episode 2 is similarly awkward viewing. There must be more to Road Dogg's positive contributions to WWE, but it's hard for fans to see him be so ponderous on the company's own reality show and not feel as if he is only in a position of privilege because of his long-standing friendship with Paul Levesque.
