Vince McMahon has formally resigned as a member of the TKO board, and won't take anything to do with WWE's day-to-day business amidst accusations of sex trafficking.

McMahon has released the statement below (reported via Deadline.com):

"I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth. I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name".
"However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately".

Former WWE employee Janel Grant has filed a lawsuit against McMahon and other company figureheads, including John Laurinaitis and another unnamed "WWE Superstar". It includes allegations of sexual, physical and emotional abuse between 2019 and 2022. A full 67-page court document is available online here, but reader discretion is advised because much of the content is harrowing and contains graphic details.

Nick Khan reportedly sent out an internal memo to WWE staff regarding Vince's resignation. It simply updated people on the decision, and that was that. Khan obviously didn't go into details about anything else, but did say McMahon won't play a part in WWE or TKO going forwards.

Previously, a representative for McMahon released a statement to Deadline that also said the lawsuit is "replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and a vindictive distortion of the truth". It, like Vince's own statement, promised that he'd "vigorously defend himself" against these accusations.

More on the story as and when it breaks.
