There were some things said in that call with Bret that I wont repeat here, but man, he was still fuming from what had happened nearly a week ago now. I tried my very hardest to tell Bret Vinces perspective, but he didnt want to hear it. And, from where he was standing---I guess I wouldnt have wanted to either. In closing, I confirmed to Bret that it was never about Vince not trusting him; it was about Vince not trusting Eric Bischoff. We ended the conversation with me explaining to Bret that even though he would never understand this, I backed Vinces decision. All he was trying to do was protect his company . . . and his employees. To this day I dont know if Bret will ever see it that way, but I hope one day he does---if even for a second.
