First appearing in a brief pre-filmed promo, a pink and purple sting dripping in sequins, his lines were fairly innocuous. Yet his wide eyed, gravely delivery, added some mystique. He would round out the middle of Nitro's first ever card defending his WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Ric Flair. Sting became an icon in the industry as a top tier talent in both WCW and TNA. In the latter, he showcased his ability to move with the times, reinvent himself, and stay at the front of the pack. Sting notably was one of the longest holdouts in jumping to to WWE; his 2014 run at least landed him in the Hall of Fame (Class of 2016).
