WCW Nitro Debut Wrestlers: Where Are They Now?
12. Scotty Riggs
The other half of the American Males wasn’t quite as prominent as Bagwell following the duo’s split. Riggs started working as a singles competitor and went 0-2 to Bagwell during their obligatory feud, before Raven took an interest in him. Riggs famously started wearing an eye patch after suffering a nasty injury while wrestling The Flock’s leader, but eventually joined the stable after resisting Raven’s initial indoctrination.
Riggs remained with The Flock until their disbandment in 1998, and was released from his WCW contract the following year. From there, Riggs started working for ECW under his real name, Scotty Antol, but didn’t take part in the 2001 Invasion. He moved into the independent circuit and stayed relatively active until 2009, when injuries forced his retirement at 38 years old.
Ill health has haunted him ever since. Riggs went under the knife to have 13 screws and two steel plates attached to his arm just before retiring, but the injuries have never fully healed and he’s now unable to straighten the limb out. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Riggs struggles with a number of issues owing to concussions sustained throughout his career, and has donated his brain to scientific research when he passes away. Having completely left the business, Riggs currently helps run a piano bar in his native Georgia.
