WCW's 10 Biggest Mistakes

2. Bosses That Had No Wrestling Knowledge

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Srfi8ldAFk Jim Herd was a Regional Manager for Pizza Hut. Kip Frey was a Venture Capitalist. Harvey Schiller was a baseball guy for Turner Sports. Bill Busch was an Accountant. The list goes on and on, but the common theme there is that WCW, time after time, continued to put people with little to no wrestling experience in charge of their product. You know, a wrestling promotion. When you're ill equipped to handle job duties, it sure doesn't take long for everyone else to notice it. It doesn't matter if you're President of a nine-figure company known the world over, or if you're flipping burgers at McDonald's. When you suck at your job, people see that you suck at your job, and man, did those guys suck at their jobs. TNA is another example of this, if you fast forward to the here and now. At one point, they had Jerry and Jeff Jarrett running the show. Two guys with obvious connections to the wrestling world, with knowledge of the product and of the business itself. TNA wasn't breaking any records with those two in control, but they were successful in building the promotion from the ground up, and making it a viable name in the market. Then, when control of the company went to Panda Energy International's Robert Carter, who gave the company to his daughter, Dixie, to run, things went downhill. Dixie had little experience in wrestling, only working with TNA for a couple months in a marketing role before Panda took over. Some of the decisions she has made have left people baffled, and even hardcore TNA supporters have come close to giving up on the company. The amount of power that these people received through the years is astonishing, and you truly begin to wonder how their hires were even thought about.
