Mercedes Martinez is now the undisputed Ring Of Honor Women's World Champion, having unified the original belt with its interim placeholder on last night's episode of AEW Dynamite.

Martinez was putting her interim title up against the Women's World Championship held by Deonna Purrazzo since felling Rok-C (now Roxanne Perez in WWE) on IMPACT Wrestling's 13 January 2022 show. Working the IMPACT standout in Dynamite's main event, Mercedes ended up taking the victory via Dragon Sleeper, forcing Purrazzo to tap out after enduring a focused assault designed to soften her up for Deonna's Fujiwara Armbar finisher.

The ROH Women's World Championship has a short history, having only come into existence in September 2021, replacing the promotion's old Women Of Honor World Championship (retired in January 2020). Martinez is the third person to hold it after Purrazzo and Rok-C.

This latest title switch means that every active ROH belt is now in the possession of somebody signed to a Tony Khan-helmed wrestling promotion. Khan, who founded AEW in 2019, confirmed his purchase of ROH in March 2021.

Purrazzo felled such challengers as Chelsea Green and Willow Nightingale during her 115-day reign. Martinez, meanwhile, had reigned as interim champion since defeating Nightingale at Supercard Of Honor on 1 April.
