Why Jim Cornette Should Manage Samoa Joe

Those Cornette vs. Heyman promos are just begging to happen, WWE!

Users on Reddit believe that Jim Cornette should make a WWE return to manage Samoa Joe, and they're absolutely right.

Some may be crying out that Samoa Joe's promos on the main roster have been fine, and they have, but there's another reason why Cornette should make a grand comeback. One name: Paul Heyman. Just think of the duelling banter both men could have each week on Raw, building up sweetly to Joe's match against Brock Lesnar at Great Balls Of Fire on 9 July, with every insult or argument.

Cornette vs. Heyman would be more effective on the mic than Joe vs. Heyman too, and that would eliminate the pressure on Joe to talk so much. Instead of focusing on promos, he and Lesnar could just concentrate on beating the hell out of one another on pay-per-view when the bell rings. Just like the good old days, right?

Speaking of which, Cornette and Heyman have history stretching right back to the 1980s. In '89, they were sheer genius as rivals in WCW, even working a now-infamous 'Tuxedo Match' at the Great American Bash. The word linking them then and now is 'Great', something Cornette vs. Heyman surely would be if WWE let them verbally tear into one another on programming.

Demand to see Cornette represent Samoa Joe doesn't stop at fan fantasy either. During a recent episode of Table For 3 on the WWE Network, 'Corny' himself professed his admiration for Joe and called for WWE to book Joe against Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Although it isn't happening on that grand stage, Joe vs. Lesnar is about to go down on pay-per-view, and Cornette would surely love to be part of it.

After Joe choked out Heyman with the Coquina Clutch on Raw, Brock will seek revenge. He won't be alone, because Heyman will want to get some licks in too. Should that happen, the live crowd would go nuts if Cornette emerged to shock Paul and even the odds. The subsequent warring promos practically write themselves.

Worries posted on Reddit that Cornette has been out of the WWE spotlight for years are unfounded. Having just appeared as part of the 2017 WWE Hall Of Fame, Cornette is fresh in the minds of fans, and even more casual viewers would likely recognise him as a result.

Besides, it wouldn't take much for WWE's awesome production team to knock up a video package detailing Jim's career or his aforementioned history with Paul Heyman. There are so many more positives than negatives here, and unscripted goodness on the mic between managers could feasibly inject the product with some much-needed urgency.

Raw has been pretty stagnant since WrestleMania, so who better than the motor-mouth Jim Cornette to freshen things up by saying exactly what's on his mind?

Hell, put Cornette with The Revival (a tag-team he greatly admires) and start a new Camp Cornette stable. It'd give all involved instant credibility; seeing Scott Dawson, Dash Wilder and Samoa Joe walk down the aisle with Jim Cornette would feel huge.

It's fitting that Great Balls Of Fire has a retro atmosphere owing to the Jerry Lee Lewis rock classic from the '50s - the traditional wrestling sensibilities of Cornette and Heyman could re-energise WWE's Universal Title bout for that pay-per-view with ease.

Let Cornette loose on Heyman and vice versa, WWE. It's exciting to imagine two of the best managers ever going at it again.
