Why Renee Young Was RELIEVED When WWE Took Her Off Commentary

"People want change? I don’t know if they really do. They hate it!"

Renee Young told Lilian Garcia's 'Chasing Glory' podcast that she felt "relief" when WWE pulled her from the Raw commentary position last October.

According to Young, she never once felt totally comfortable behind the booth, partly because she was always mindful of p*ssing off fans who didn't want change. She said the following.

"You want to hear something different. WWE is constantly evolving, and we’re constantly trying to change, but at the same time, it’s hard because as much as people want change, I don’t know if they really do. They hate it. They’re like, no, we want the good old boys back, we want to hear things the way that it’s always been."

Renee also felt weird pressure to act a certain way around her real-life husband Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley whenever he appeared on programming. He launched a new heel character right as Young joined commentary, and she admitted to Garcia that proved problematic. It pretty much ruined any chance she had to bed in with Michael Cole and Corey Graves.

People knew they were married, and she struggled to justify his on-screen actions as a supportive wife but remain a professional broadcaster.
