Why Roman Reigns WON'T Defend His Titles At WWE Night Of Champions 2023
Triple H's creative team has something different in mind for WWE top boy Roman Reigns.
WWE has apparently decided against having Roman Reigns defend his Undisputed WWE Universal belts in Saudi Arabia at Night Of Champions on 27 May.
Roman appeared on this week's edition of SmackDown, and it was eventually revealed that he'll team with Solo Sikoa to challenge for the Undisputed Tag-Team Titles vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn at NOC. That was news to The Usos, but they were given no say in the matter.
WWE has since made the match official.
This also means that KO and Sami have squashed personal beef with performing in Saudi. It's expected one or both will broach that subject in the media over the coming weeks, but WWE will be relieved - they'll be delighted to squeeze more star power onto the PLE and have some top titles on the line.
It is interesting that Reigns won't be defending the WWE or Universal straps though. Most fans believed that every title from Raw and SmackDown would be up for grabs at NOC, but that's not the case.
Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles for the new World Heavyweight prize is still expected to headline the show.
