Why Tony Schiavone Missed AEW Fight For The Fallen

The legendary announcer was missing from the booth last night.

There was no sign of commentator Tony Schiavone during last night's AEW Fight for the Fallen show, with the ex-WCW man absent from the broadcast due to delays in receiving test results relating to the ongoing global health crisis.

Schiavone's fellow announcers - Jim Ross, Taz, and Excalibur - made this announcement at the start of the show, saying that Tony's results didn't come through in time for him to work the taping.

It was noted that Schiavone hasn't yet tested positive. A follow-up report from EWrestlingNews says Tony is "in good health and does not show any symptoms."

Good to hear that the 62-year-old is seemingly okay. Fingers crossed for a negative test result, as the last thing any wrestling promotion needs is a potential outbreak at the moment. Nonetheless, Schiavone not working Fight for the Fallen was unquestionably the right move and the safest option all-round - promotions can't get away with running a sloppy slop anymore.

Schiavone has been a virtual ever-present for AEW since joining the promotion in August 2019. Working as a producer and an announcer, it has thrust him into his biggest pro-wrestling spotlight since WCW closed in 2001.
