Why WWE Fans Love Sheamus Now

The Bar Sheamus Cesaro

So many, in fact, that you'll forgive your writer for any forgotten here.

Removed completely from the main event scene as his one year anniversary on Raw approached, he won a King Of The Ring that resulted in him dressing like a pr*ck that probably only existed so Vince McMahon could see his "range". With all of the juice eventually squeezed from the fruit a year later, he was turned face and given a Royal Rumble win, but his infamous 18-second win over Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania did more for his fallen foe.

Caught - as many were - in the crossfire of WWE’s fight with its own fanbase after that, babyface Sheamus was constantly considered a company teacher’s pet no matter how good the matches were. Rematches with Bryan were exponentially better than the original, and the character as a hard graft good guy meshed fabulously well with unlikely opponents such as Mark Henry and The Big Show.

Returning as a heel in 2015 following an injury lay-off, it was if as if he’d never been away within weeks, and the role he took as heel spoiler of Roman Reigns WWE Championship party at the end of the year didn’t work half as well as ‘The Big Dog’s beef with Vince McMahon at the same time.

He found unlikely success and blindingly bloody obvious critical acclaim when a quality feud with Cesaro resulted in them combining their powers as The Bar, but was stuck with the dreaded rotational lifer’s stink as recently as the drab 2022 feud alongside his new Brawling Brutes buddies against The New Day.

That he shook that stench off is almost as impressive as his ability to smell like roses all over again heading into 2023.
