Triple H wasn't into this idea at first, but other WWE stories helped to change his mind.

Aleister Black has revealed that WWE boss Triple H "was not really into" the idea of putting he and real-life wife Zelina Vega together as a package on television, but the success of other husband and wife duos like Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch helped to change his mind. Then, Trips saw the reaction to CM Punk bringing AJ Lee back into the mix and he decided to go all in on Black and Vega as a duo.

According to Aleister on Sports Illustrated's 'The Takedown', Hunter was willing to have the conversation when Black returned to WWE from AEW in April 2025. However, things were put on ice because 'The Game' fancied doing other things with his one time NXT favourite. Meanwhile, Zelina had her own stuff going on with the Women's United States Title scene.

The couple had to bide their time, but Black believes the payoff was worth it. Once Trips finally gave in and let them try it, he was impressed. Zelina rushed to her man's aid during a 'Last Man Standing' match between Aleister and arch nemesis Damian Priest on the 10 October edition of SmackDown.

Backstage, Hunter "was completely sold on it and he really liked it". He's since been pretty hands on with the act, one that Black has described as "a work in progress".

Aleister fancies working some intergender tag-team matches with Zelina over the coming weeks and months too. That'd be a no brainer. It also shouldn't be lost on fans that Triple H (of all people) was hesitant about seeing if a husband and wife combo would work on TV. After all, his union with Stephanie McMahon is arguably the highest profile example of that dynamic working!
