Why WWE WrestleMania X-Seven Is FINALLY Set To Be Topped

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Khan said "This year’s Forbidden Door will be the best event either company has ever participated in."

Now, Tony does have a tendency to over-promote. This is a man so excitable that he recently promoted a 19 match Ring of Honor TV show and expected everybody not to think that was f*cking mental. This sort of hype-job is not out of the ordinary for the man - but he has already justified it with the announcements of Kenny Omega Vs. Will Ospreay II and Bryan Danielson Vs. Kazuchika Okada. A merely fun undercard will guarantee a phenomenal, all-timer of a show if those matches live up to their potential.

And they surely will. Omega Vs. Ospreay was a perfect wrestling match - spectacle, hatred, violence, layered storytelling, blood, genre fusion, emotion, all beautifully intertwined without ever feeling like a checklist - and they held back with the Toronto sequel in mind. Danielson Vs. Okada is the sort of match that anything below ****1/2 will feel like a crushing disappointment.

Both are legends, all-time greats, but have shown a tendency to build a little too indulgently on the rarest of occasions. King Of Pro Wrestling 2019 and Royal Rumble 2019 spring to mind. An anxious mind: this can't be anything other than incredible, surely. Okada's levitation dropkick, which he always knows exactly when to execute, will work spectacularly against Danielson's moveset: the backflip into the running clothesline, or the running dropkick into a seated opponent. There is ridiculous scope for magic. They are both playing veterans incensed that a new philosophy or generation is threatening to supplant them. This thing could be as mean and vicious as it will, inevitably, be sumptuously crafted.

What might the undercard look like?
