Why WWE WrestleMania X-Seven Is FINALLY Set To Be Topped

Jon Moxley Hiroshi Tanahashi
All Elite Wrestling

Jon Moxley has a death match on the mind, and if Forbidden Door lacked anything last year, it was ultra-violence.

Or, alternatively, following the events of Dominion, Mox Vs. Tomohiro Ishii II could be the direction. And what a potential direction that is: their original 2019 G1 Climax encounter was an unbelievably satisfying squelcher. Ishii taking to the skies to put Moxley down was such a fantastic, out of character spot, the sort that does so much to portray an opponent as a huge threat.

Orange Cassidy Vs. anybody is a guaranteed great match at this point. What if he works Hiroshi Tanahashi? Tana doing his schtick would be a weird thrill, but what if he instead defends the honour of the "indie fed" and steps up to MJF?

If this all seems wildly hyperbolic for a show that hasn't even happened yet, that's the point. TV wrestling in the U.S. was dog sh*t for so many years between WrestleMania X-Seven and the formation of AEW. It should be a good thing that standards have been raised to this extent. People should want the fabled X-Seven to get topped.

Forbidden Door is a dream show, and a dream card is taking shape. Dream about it.
