Will Ospreay Confirms He And CM Punk Are Talking

No match has been agreed...yet!

Will Ospreay told Chris Van Vliet that he and CM Punk have been exchanging messages on Instagram recently.

That'll come as exciting news to wrestling fans pining for a dream match Ospreay has publicly said he wants at New Japan's Wrestle Kingdom 15 event next year. The Brit said that he'd "bend over backwards" to make the match a reality once the ongoing global health pandemic is over.

Select grappling fans just let out a rather childish "SQUEEE" sound. Probably.

Ospreay was quick to note that the pair hadn't thrashed anything out officially via DM, but did say that they've been chatting away cordially. That, if one is allowed to read between the lines and predict the future, is a good sign that the bout is closer than ever to eventually happening.

"There is nothing in the pipework right now", Ospreay confirmed - again though, it's a step in the right direction that he's even reaching out to Punk privately on social media and striking up a relationship at all.

Will also told Van Vliet that the possibility of a showdown in Japan was something he thinks would appeal to Punk, but it's his call. "He’s the one that’s got to pick up the phone", he said.
