Popular AEW star Will Ospreay faces a desperate race against the clock to be ready, fit and healthy enough to perform on the company's Forbidden Door 2025 pay-per-view in London, England on 24 August. The high-flyer revealed during Wednesday's episode of flagship show Dynamite that he's herniated two discs in his back (C2 and C6) that impact his spinal cord.

Now, The Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reports that this is a legitimate injury and isn't part of an All Elite storyline. However, on TV, Ospreay attributed the damage to the Death Riders after they attacked him during All In Texas on 12 July. There, whilst attempting to save Hangman Page from a Riders run-in, Claudio Castagnoli put Will's head through a steel chair then stomped on it.

Ospreay told Tony Schiavone and fans watching Dynamite that he was immediately attended to by medics and given an MRI. That's the worked bit, but Will's injury woes are sadly real, and they put a depressing question mark next to his involvement at The O2 Arena in London next month.

Again, this is a real race against time for Ospreay.

Following Ospreay's in-ring promo on the show, his All In Texas tag-team partner Swerve Strickland came out to give the Englishman a hug and show his support. So, what are the chances of Ospreay being ready for Forbidden Door as planned? He'll certainly give it his all, but back injuries are nothing to sniff at.

There's next to no chance that AEW boss Tony Khan will book Will in a match between now and 24 August. Ospreay will need as much rest and recuperation as possible, and it'd be foolish to risk him given he's the poster boy for All Elite's next UK jaunt.
